PRESS RELEASE

Revolutionizing inventory optimization, the solution goes beyond forecasting to help distributors put the right inventory on the shelf and recover capital from what will not sell

Continuum AI, the reverse logistics network built for distributors and manufacturers, today announced the launch of ReFlow, a first-of-its-kind inventory optimization solution that helps distributors better align inventory with demand, reduce asset exposure, and recover working capital trapped in the wrong stock.

ReFlow analyzes purchase orders, sales orders, invoices, and inventory data from a distributor’s ERP to generate an accurate, SKU-level demand forecast. It then recommends what to do with what will not sell, including which products to return, transfer to another location, or liquidate. ReFlow also factors in current inventory levels, vendor SOPs, return agreements, and applicable return windows to inform purchasing decisions before excess inventory hits the shelves. In an initial pilot, ReFlow identified approximately $500,000 in recoverable inventory within a distributor’s roughly $7 million inventory position, uncovering substantial working capital that they otherwise would not have recovered.

Distributors today rely on ERP forecasting tools, spreadsheets, internal reports, and employee judgment to balance inventory. These approaches can help predict demand, but they are often inaccurate, and they stop short of solving the more complex problem: determining what inventory should be on the shelf, where it should sit across the branch network, and what action to take when inventory no longer aligns with demand. Forecast-only tools predict demand but leave distributors to determine the appropriate inventory action on their own.

“Inventory optimization has traditionally stopped at the forecast, but knowing what might sell is only half of the equation,” said Alex Witcpalek, Founder and CEO of Continuum. “Distributors need to know what inventory they should actually be carrying, where it should be, and what to do when they have too much of the wrong product. ReFlow gives them that decision layer, helping them put more of the right inventory on the shelf while recovering capital from what will not move. Those decisions have a direct impact on margin and the P&L.”

ReFlow uses AI to train a dedicated ensemble of demand forecasting models for each distributor to improve overall forecast accuracy. Using historical ERP data, ReFlow forecasts SKU-level demand by branch, compares projected demand with on-hand inventory, and applies relevant vendor requirements. ReFlow then translates that analysis into three specific actions:

  • Return eligible products before the vendor return window closes

  • Transfer inventory to another branch or location where demand exists

  • Liquidate or wholesale products that are unlikely to sell

This recommendation engine is what sets ReFlow apart from traditional forecasting tools. Rather than stopping at a prediction, ReFlow turns the forecast into an asset recovery and inventory positioning decision, helping distributors determine what to do about what will not sell.

Continuum’s AI agents can then move approved recommendations into execution by sending vendor communications, following up on return authorizations, and supporting the return workflow within the same platform.

The results extend beyond the distributor’s balance sheet. Better inventory alignment helps distributors keep more of the right products available to improve their customers’ experience, while also giving manufacturers a healthier view of inventory moving through their distributor network rather than sitting on shelves.

ReFlow is delivered through Continuum’s Vendor & Finance Hub and builds on the company’s expertise in reverse logistics and inventory recovery. Continuum supports distributors in managing the complex movement of products, data, and credits across vendor networks, branch locations, and internal teams. ReFlow brings that expertise earlier into the inventory lifecycle, giving distributors a proactive way to rebalance inventory, reduce exposure, and put more working capital back into productive stock.
